Seen At 11: ‘Magic Tank’ Could Come To The Rescue If You Run Out Of Gas

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) — Imagine never running out of gas again even if your tank is empty.

A new product that promises to help drivers avoid this scenario is about to hit the market, CBS 2’s Maurice Dubois reported.

Running out of gas can be a frustrating and scary experiences. It’s one of the top reasons people get stranded according to the Automobile Association of America.

“We do get ‘out of gas’ calls. Especially when the gasoline hit four dollars a gallon,” Robert Sinclair explained.

When it gets too expensive to fill up a lot of people misjudge their gas gauge and get stranded.

“That can be a very bad situation and weather conditions such as we’ve had recently. A breakdown can be more than just an inconvenience,” Sinclair said.

Brighton Heights Man Charged With Decapitating Mother’s Dog

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Police are investigating an extreme case of animal cruelty in Brighton Heights.

Matthew Ondo, 30, of Brighton Heights, was arrested late Wednesday night after police say he used a machete to decapitate his mother’s 14-month-old Chihuahua, named Izzy.

The machete had an 18-inch blade.

Police said the dog’s beheading followed an argument between Ondo and his mother.

What sparked the argument was not immediately clear.

Police say Ondo told them: “The devil did it; Allah did it.”

He’s now being held in the Allegheny County Jail.

He faces charges of animal cruelty and possession of an instrument of crime.

Both charges are misdemeanors.

New App Tracks Neighborhood Crime

DENVER (CBS4) A new app called Alert ID allows users to see where and what type of crimes happen in their neighborhood all with the click of a button.

Various symbols pop up on a map of your neighborhood which indicate the different crimes that have happened in the area. You can spot crimes like burglary or track where convicted sex offenders live. Alert ID shows the names and photos of criminals too. The app also allows you to communicate and interact with neighbors to raise awareness about nearby crimes. Alert ID works with Homeland Security, The Department of Justice and the National Crime Prevention Council.

Emily Ragan a mother of two just moved to the city from the suburbs. She is keeping tabs on where crimes happen in her new Denver neighborhood.

“Safety first and foremost for two teenage daughters” says Ragan explained.
